Kim leighton is a fashion creative based around Nottingham who specialises in art direction and styling.
I find comfort in talking about the taboo and raising questions that even make me question myself throughout my work, I always want my work to leave people asking questions.
INSPIRATION
My initial inspiration for my final major project was jumping into how people view their own mortality and how behind closed doors people use other methods of dealing with death. I wanted to shine light on the people who are viewed as outsiders for simply living their lives through inanimate objects such as Taxidermy, mannequins and figurines.
I touched into some of my own feelings about mortality and how the general public as a whole deal with grief. COVID-19 opened up a lot of doors people wanted to stay closed and I felt this was a big turning point with how we felt about living and dying.
DETAIL
'The illusion of life' is a art/fashion exhibition that works with sculpture and fashion photography to question your own mortality, there's no straight forward answer to life or death but that doesn't mean we should just deal with it. The exhibition is completely subjective to who is viewing it and how they feel about their own mortality, It's simply there to make you think and question yourself.
