I often create fashion imagery using alternative, hand made processes.
The combination of the physical and digital allows me to explore concepts in a truly authentic way.
INSPIRATION
This project began with an initial interest in yoga and its healing properties. Specifically ‘Embodied Flow’ which seeks to ‘find tangible pathways between body, mind and spirit’. The ‘Theory of becoming’ explained this further, awareness of our body and its sensations, creates awareness of the environment, the connection between the two is constantly changing and reshaping. The body is not a fixed structure but is rather a process of becoming. Even in ‘stillness’ the body is moving.

DETAIL
Throughout this project I explored the body’s fluctuating states within fluid movement. The body is not a fixed structure. Through movement internal and external awareness is heightened. Even in ‘stillness’ the body is holding ‘still’ making movement constant. Methods of collage and layout allowed me to dissect moments of ‘stillness’. Adding layers to the images to present how the body flows from one state to another. Using my own sweat paired with diaphragmatic breathing (anti-anxiety breath) I was able to dispersed fluid across a page of darkroom paper creating vivid lumen prints (FIG 1). The physical processes were a way of imprinting onto my work, involving my own body and its movements.
