I am a fashion communicator and stylist from De Montford University, with a fashion design background I have found a passion for the art direction and photography process.
Throughout my styling and communication degree course, I have gained and perfected my skills in vast experimentation with extreme styling, art direction and photography. I have taken inspiration during my projects from different communities, art movements and current social issues. I have established my love for fashion photography through this course.
INSPIRATION
In my work I often find inspiration through intense research. For example, my final year project - I began to research hoarding. Though this the sense of obsession kept arising. I then proceeded to look further into this. I made contact and met with individuals who possess quirky obsessions and collections in interview. I photographed them along with their collections. Looking at the phycological side of obsession I learned of the many emotions attached to people and their belongings.
I find huge inspiration in phycological research. in previous projects I have explored the perception of perfection, body image and how people view themselves. however in this final project I really focused on why people collect and obsess over objects. finding different reasoning behind the form of obsession I tried to portray this through my styling and photography. I wanted to show the form of distraction, filling a void, and emotional security.
DETAIL
Throughout my final major project I heavily researched collectors and their obsessions, and through this I decided to create a zine showcasing documentary photos of these collections along with an exhibition displaying the madness of obsession.
