About Me

Hi, I'm June, a Fashion Design Graduate from Northumbria University

Throughout my entire life I have moved from one location to the next. Having a beautiful German mum, a proud dad who serves in the British Army, and inspiring younger twin brothers following my every step; my life has been continuously influenced by different cultures, lifestyles and experiences.

Every aspect of work I create has been shaped through my own personal experiences. From having my schooling at a military boarding school, to taking complete advantage of my own freedom in Berlin during my placement year; my final collection and follow-on collection have been inspired by moments and embedded memories throughout the past 10 years of my life which I wish to share with others.

INSPIRATION

"ONE WEEK LOVE" and "COMFORT ON TOUR"

"ONE WEEK LOVE" - During my year in Berlin, I saw from afar as my parents went through their divorce. I began to question Love and its meaning. I read books on love, listed to music about love and observed love in others. Berlin being the free and openminded city it is, I began to make up my own mind on the emotion; and this is where the concept for "ONE WEEK LOVE" began.

"COMFORT ON TOUR" - Lockdown of March 2020 was something no-one was prepared for. I moved in with my dad in Nottingham when the announcement was released that we all had to stay at home. The first week was pretty easy, but as weeks passed, I watched my dad as he got more worried, more lonely and began to completely lose all routine which has always been a must in his regimental lifestyle. I wanted to find a way in which my dad could keep a routine, wear his uniform and feel comfortable at the same time.

DETAIL

I USED DECONSTRUCTED JEANS TO PRINT ONTO AND CREATE MY GARMENTS AND ACCESSORIES

By collecting old and unwanted pairs of jeans from a number of individuals, I wanted to repurpose these garments. Sustainability being a constant touchstone, I felt it was important to demonstrate a new and innovative way to upcycle pre-loved garments.
