During my time at Solent, I have gained knowledge in all aspects of the fashion industry - specifically creating short and long form content. Having worked for Carbon on Campus to produce both print and digital content, it has increased my knowledge content creation.
Along with working for Carbon, I have created my own magazine’s and zine’s in which I included long form content, as well as my own brand, Transpire, which is an online organisation for transgender people consisting of short form content, podcast’s and more.
INSPIRATION
The inspiration behind Transpire was that there was currently no other publication for transgender youths or young adults. Being trans myself, I wanted to create a publication that can help educate society on transgender issues.
I created Transpire as a one-stop platform for trans youth, young adult’s, and their parents and teachers all to access the information they need in order to be informed on trans issues. This meant taking my knowledge and skills in long and short form content creation and applying it to the Transpire website and zines.
DETAIL
Therefore, by using real trans people’s stories, or those of the parent’s of trans people, it meant that people from the trans community visiting the site would be able to relate to someone. Therefore, it would make them feel more engaged with Transpire as a brand as it feels like a community and a safe space in which we can all be without judgement and prejudice. Ensuring that Transpire remains a community and offers support to the trans community is the upmost important thing.
