About Me

I am a BA Fashion Design graduate from Nottingham Trent University.

As a queer creator, I have a passion for fluidity- in the world around and in ourselves. I create fluid and genderless garments that subvert the norm and draw from the essence of change.

I love to focus on texture in my collections- and work with unconventional and layered silhouettes. My work is an exploration into what is labelled as 'strange' but may just be different or beyond binaries. I draw from ideas around natural energies, as well as mythology and my own thoughts and feelings towards fashion and its use as an expression of individuality.

INSPIRATION

Fall Below The Water.

This collection, 'Fall Below the Water' is an exploration into human fluidity and the importance of our bodies' return to nature. Imagine yourself submerging into an algae coated pond, trees bending down so their branches touch the water, Imagine the sounds and the textures- the pond creatures swirling beneath your feet. You are harmonious with the movement of the environment surrounding you and feel at peace with yourself.

That sense of euphoria related to being one with yourself is how I want my wearers to feel. These ideas of submission to the ebb and flow of nature are what inspires my collection- alongside mythology relating to creatures that dwell in water. Through the use of texture, layering, subversive silhouette and using almost entirely sustainable fabric sources; I have created a collection that provides ideas that link to this concept.

DETAIL

FALL DOWN PAST THE OOZE, THE MUCK, LET YOUR SKIN BECOME ALGAE

‘THE WATER DOES NOT JUDGE MY BODY, NOR THE TREES, NOR THE MOSS, NOR THE CREATURES BENEATH. I AM SIMPLY A BEING- ONE WITH MYSELF , ONE WITH THE ALGAE. SOCIETY IS COLLAPSING, RETURN TO THE SWAMP AND FALL BELOW THE WATER.’

“gender fluidity recognises no borders or rules of gender” (Bornstein, 1994).
