About Me

Hi, I'm Holly a graduate from Kingston School of Art

Holly was inspired by her experiences during the recent lockdowns, using escapism as a drive to create a capsule collection with a sustainable element.

I felt that it was important to create the feeling of authenticity re-using vintage pieces my aim was to create a collection that was interchangeable, taking into consideration sustainability as to prolong the life cycle of a garment and show the beauty in wear and ageing.

INSPIRATION

LOCKDOWN AND ESCAPISM

in lockdown I felt there was a want and a need for escapism, my idea stemmed from this feeling of wanting to get put and drive into the middle of nowhere getting purposely lost. films like Thelma and Louise led me into deeper research where I came upon the iconic story of Bonnie and Clyde.

My project was then loosely based off the narrative off there story, Bonnie with Claudia on the run always on the go living out of a suitcase in the back of their vintage car. combining elements of 1800’s undergarments and 1930’s menswear tailoring, layered to give an effortless feel with details such as hand mending, distressing and deconstruction to make pieces feel more real and lived in.

BEAUTY IN DECONSTRUCTION AND DECAY

For the concept of this collection I wanted there to be the feeling that Bonnie was DIY-ing the pieces, painting the blazer to change its colour, snagging her stockings really living in her clothing. As I mentioned previously authenticity was key and it was these details that I felt really brought the collection to life.
