About Me

Hiya, I am Hollie and I'm a fashion communication graduate from UWE.

I am a creative director and image-maker from South-East London. I have an intense love for the way our minds work as humans and the fetishization of the weird and wonderful. My visual identity is rooted in the various characters I create and the costume they wear that help develop the narrative-driven stories I imagine.

I have always been interested in producing work that has a variety of different subject matter, however, my main interest comes from experimenting with imagery to depict the rawness of human life, sex and the extreme. I enjoy working both digitally as well as using diy approaches through collages, scans and digital drawings to bring my ideas to life.

INSPIRATION

I am stimulated by the body, performance and historical figures.

My inspiration throughout my whole practice is so varied. I ensure that all my work has a humorous element to it, as this is a dominant factor within my visual identity. I like to pull on references from a variety of different sources, practitioners and imagery. I relish in the messy and the imperfection of art and anti-fashion which is a huge part of my practice. My editorials over the years have been inspired by performance, folklore, colour theory and the depiction of women's bodies over the years.

Furthermore, during the progression of my studies at UWE, I became increasingly interested in sports and the depiction of this through fashion. This obsession tied in with my love for the extreme and how this can be presented through fashion editorials and campaigns. I created a proposed campaign based on 80's wrestling for Chopova Lowena as their brand completely aligns with my own values and visual identity. As well as, creating an editorial focusing on bodybuilding as part of my final project.

DETAIL

Pheromone Magazine Issue 1 - Fetishes and Obsessions

Pheromone magazine was created from a passion in the interests of the human need for hobbies, fetishes and obsessions. With content focused on both the filthy and the strange, Pheromone magazine focuses on creative direction, styling and art direction and the creation of characters throughout. Pheromone is a magazine that will be produced for several different future issues focused on different subject matters including folklore, macabre history, traditions, and the human psyche. This ongoing project and issue contains a series of images called ‘Pumping Iron’ following ‘Spike’ an obsessive, aspiring body-builder who aims to be the best at everything he puts his mind too. Additionally focusing on the obsession and infatuation with looking your best and the toxic masculinity of extreme sports. In other editorials, styling and location create a focused look at desires, fetishes and kinks from a religious and Gothic angle, following the human obsession with death and the macabre.
