About Me

Fashion Communicator & Stylist

Harjot Minhas is a Fashion Communicator & Stylist specialising in fashion photography, brand communication and marketing. Through analysing and understanding a brands identity, Harjot creates sleek, high-quality imagery for their social media platforms, websites, look books and more.

During my three years at University, I have challenged and created awareness for issues which are important to me and very relevant in society right now. I have created campaigns for women with AIDS, women who suffer from acne to creating a digital exhibition and catwalk to create awareness for Refugee’s. I have also created a campaign to push diversity within the fashion industry. As part of my final year at university, I have looked into BDD (Body Dysmorphic Disorder) and I have challenged modesty within Indian culture towards women.

INSPIRATION

My inspiration comes from Personal development, life experiences and international issues

I take inspiration from developmental periods of my life such as dealing with Acne and Body Dysmorphia. Growing up as a young Indian girl I had many challenges I had to face which encourages to me use my skills as a Fashion Communicator & Stylist to develop ideas and create outcomes such as the idea of redefining immodesty which I wish I had growing up.

Being able to travel broadens and influences my projects immensely and is reflected throughout final outcomes. I like to use elements of different cultures and languages within my work to really push my work to an international audience. Typography and photography is a vital tool which is used within my work to communicate to an wider audience.

Challenges & Personal Development

Taking on challenges has really allowed me to personally develop my skills and techniques to create fresh pieces of work for every project. My campaign for the Body Dysmorphic Disorder really pushed me out of my comfort zone to create imagery for a sensitive topic which represented my concept. I was able to create a successful campaign by elevating my styling and using garments such as corsets and puffer jackets in an uncommon way on the body to create a quite sculptural look which is something that was quite unfamiliar for me. This really opened my mind and developed my ideas in the following projects as to garments can be utilised when it comes to styling.
