About Me

Hi, I'm Hannie, a fashion design graduate from ARU Cambridge.

Hannie’s work merges personal experience with bold creativity. Her graduate collection, “SWITCH,” delves into the emotional extremes of Borderline Personality Disorder, weaving together elements from her previous collections into a raw, conceptual narrative. Through fashion, she expresses both vulnerability and strength.

Throughout my time at university, I've come to realize how deeply my own emotions influence my creative process. Rather than shy away from intensity or vulnerability, I have embraced them, using these feelings as a driving force in my work. Each project has become an outlet for exploring my inner world - translating complex, often overwhelming emotions into tangible, visual narratives. Fashion has become a therapeutic tool for me, allowing me not only to express myself but to connect with others who resonate with those emotional experiences.

INSPIRATION

My initial inspiration began with exploring my emotions.

I have always felt confused by my emotions - how choppy, unpredictable and all over the place they can be - and I often wondered what it could mean and what I could do about it. This curiosity lead me to explore Borderline Personality Disorder, along with other mental health conditions, as a source of inspiration for a project that felt deep and meaningful.

I wanted to create something that not only allowed me to better understand myself but also resonated with others who might be experiencing similar emotional extremes. It became important to me that this project wasn't just personal, but also relatable - a way to open up conversations about mental health through fashion.

Animation Collaboration

Working together, we created a world where SWITCH truly belongs. Inspired by the energy and style of 90’s New York, this world feels both nostalgic and futuristic—caught somewhere between the past and the future. Using a combination of Blender and CLO3D, we brought this vision to life through an animation that not only showcases the collection but also emphasizes its deeper meaning. The animation serves as a visual extension of SWITCH, bringing its emotional intensity and conceptual depth into a space that feels raw, dynamic, and immersive. Every detail was thoughtfully designed to complement the narrative, making sure the emotional essence of the collection could be felt through every frame.
