About Me

Hi I’m Hannah, a Fashion Communication and Promotion graduate from NUA

Hannah Berry is a fashion based image maker with a focus on content creation and strategy for social media. She is drawn to a range of unique and independent brands, which is reflected in her final major project.

Hannah is also deeply interested in storytelling and the human experience, which is evident from her Instagram account dedicated to sharing people’s experiences throughout the pandemic. Moving forward, she hopes to incorporate these interests into her own photography and wants to work with a range of brands that put their connection with their customers at the forefront of their brand strategy. INSPIRATION

For my final major project I wanted to challenge myself in new and exciting ways.

I wanted to do more than just create images, I felt like I needed to push myself and try something new with each set of pictures. To kick start this process, I made a list of things that I had always wanted to try and then I found ways to incorporate them into one big final major project. This included smaller goals like styling dungarees for a shoot, which aren’t traditionally seen as high fashion, using an unconventional backdrop, and theming a whole shoot around one colour.

This also included bigger goals like collaborating with students on other courses and experimenting with movement in still imagery, with the end goal being to leave university with a varied and exciting portfolio of work. Within all of this, I felt that it was important as a content creator to show how the imagery could be used in context, which is where my social media background came into it. For each set of imagery, I demonstrated how a brand could use the content across their platforms.

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

I did the majority of my shoots outside because it gave me a lot more freedom

This was especially the case with this shoot. I wanted to capture the grace and freedom that modest fashion can provide women, so naturally we shot it outside in a big, beautiful country park near where I live. I also felt that shooting outside made the movement I was trying to capture a lot easier and more authentic, and the blue skies give the images more depth.

I love photography because it gives me the opportunity to tell stories through imagery and capture bright, vibrant moments in a different way than I could with words.
