About Me

Hana Wilkins, a Fashion Art Direction Graduate from London

INSPIRED BY THE BEAUTY AND ESSENCE OF NATURE AND HOW IT RETAINS SO MANY BENEFITS FOR OUR WELL BEING

My message throughout my projects is to immerse yourself within elements of nature, whether that be physical or mental, due to the importance it has for our well being.

INSPIRATION

MY INITIAL IDEA WAS INSPIRED BY THE BENEFITS I GAINED WHEN BEING OUT IN NATURE OVER LOCKDOWN

Throughout my projects, I am often inspired by the beauty and essence of nature. During the first lockdown, I found we all escaped to nature due to its beauty but also, more importantly, because of the benefits it entailed for our mental and physical well being. Industries such as fashion highlighted this importance to the extent where Vogue created an editorial focused on the 'reset' in order to represent this experience.

However, once the second and third lockdown hit, I found my mental health declined due to the implications of these lockdown periods and found through research, that this was a general feeling throughout society. Once again, I found myself escaping to nature to improve my well being and therefore took inspiration from these experiences and experimented with the immersion of nature within my imagery.

DETAIL

I USED MOVING IMAGE TO ENHANCE THE FEELING OF BEING IMMERSED WITHIN NATURE

Due to myself highlighting the benefits of nature for our well being, I developed my technical skills in order for my audience to experience these benefits first hand through my imagery. I experimented with moving image and sound in order to immerse my audience within nature and found this to be a key development within my practice. This immersion within virtual imagery highlights the future of the arts and represents the shift towards virtual reality.
