My name is Giulia Cozza and I’m attending the last year in Fashion Design at IUAD Fashion Academy in Milan. My previous education wasn’t related to fashion: in fact, I didn’t realize that this was actually my path until I started my journey at the Academy. Finally, for the first time in my life, I felt in the right place, surrounded by the right people.
In these years, I have always taken on new challenges, trying to push myself beyond my apparent abilities. At the beginning of my journey, I never thought I could sew the Graduate pieces on my own, as I didn’t consider myself skilled enough; but in the end, with determination, hard work, and a lot of effort, I managed to excel in designing and making the garments I had created. I love drawing: I feel free to express myself when I do it. I particularly appreciate pencil sketches and I think I have developed a recognizable style over the years.
INSPIRATION
"Error 5150" is a capsule collection inspired by the destructive world of Hollywood in the 2000s, where young talents like Britney Spears and Lindsey Lohan faced pressure from parents and the industry. The fabrics and processes themselves (like devorè print) symbolize the deteriorating mental state of these stars. 5150 is the police code for psychotic delirium, often leading to conservatorship where a guardian controls the star's life and money, as seen with Britney Spears and others.

DETAIL
The shapes and volumes of the garments, which approach high fashion, represent the apparent beauty of money and fame, in contrast with the fabrics and processes themselves (devorè print, denim fur, ripped denim) which instead represent the corroded and destroyed minds of these young promises. As for the colors, I chose to focus only on denim blue and fuchsia: they create an incredible contrast. Fuchsia is my heart color. For me, it's a safe place, a color that makes me feel happy and feel myself.
