About Me

Fashion design graduate from Birmingham City University

CHILDRENSWEAR AWARD WINNER 2022

I’m originally from France and I moved to the UK five years ago to study fashion design. I decided to specialise in Childrenswear for my final year projects, after doing a few childrenswear collaborations with students from different courses during my second year at University. I really enjoy how free and fun Childrenswear is, I love every step of the process from the research to the final making. This last project has also allowed me to expand my skills to branding and merchandising which I really enjoyed too.

INSPIRATION

« Enfant roi » and «  Summer days at scout camps - ALO » This portfolio includes two projects.

The first project «  Enfant roi » is an autumn/winter childrenswear collection focusing on my nan’s rebellious childhood, growing up in France in the 50’s as well as French history. Going through her old photos and listening to her childhood memories, I found out that my nan was actually a 1950 wild child. Like most girls at the time, she went to a boarding school for nuns, from which she was expelled after a few months because of her rebellious behaviour.

The second project « Summer days at scout camps » is a spring/summer childrenswear collection also inspired by my nan’s childhood, but focusing on where she spent her summer holidays. She has good memories of spending her summer time near the Château de Tilloloy in the North of France.
This project was more focused on the branding and merchandising so I created the brand « ALO » which is the shorter version of my nan’s last name. ALO is a unisex ready-to-wear and activewear brand for adventurous kids.

The backpack has three layers, a red pvc, a marinière printed cotton and a red lining. The bucket hat also has the marinière print and the red lining. The second look includes a jumpsuit and a raincoat. The jumpsuit has wavy blue piping cord all around, it is fully printed using different scales. The raincoat has three layers, a blue see through/waterproof pvc, a printed cotton and a lining. There is a lot of details on the coat, like a hood, a stand collar, a front zip with a storm flap, eyelets and cords around the waist to tighten the coat, two front pockets, wavy hems and ruffles on the sleeves.

Trust the process, know that you are exactly where you are meant to be; even though you may not be where you though you would.
