Emma Marie Noll’s designs transport you to an ancient tale where fairytales are real rather than only in dreams.
Her designs are crafted using couture techniques to exhibit feminine power and beauty through the smallest details and contours of the body.
INSPIRATION
For over a millennium, the Völsunga Saga has been told and retold throughout time. Rich with jealousy, betrayal, vengeance, and greed. In the saga, Brynhild, a Valkyrie, angered the god Odin and, in retribution, he pricked her with a thorn which sent her into a long slumber. She was awoken by being cut out of her armor and set free by the dragon slayer, making her one of the oldest tales of Sleeping Beauty.
The Völsunga Saga tells a different tale of Sleeping Beauty, where she is a wise warrior, unlike the helpless princesses we know today. With the many different renditions of Sleeping Beauty, there are themes throughout each story that are similar, but you can see a change in the way women are viewed within them. The Völsunga Saga has inspired Emma Marie Noll to create an eveningwear collection to represent and retell this ancient warrior’s tale through my designs.
