Since being a child, I have always loved doing and making, which is why I think I am so passionate to carry this forward not only into my career but my life also...
I enjoy trying new things all the time to do with my practice and I am passionate about always trying to improve and get better at what I do. Embroidery is my most loved attribute whether that be on the sewing machine, by hand or even the Irish machine. I love to use this to add depth or embellish my pieces; beading and sequins further elaborate this.
INSPIRATION
This is the concept like the flash of the camera the brain recalls a photo-like snapshot of a vivid or distinct event, often remembering the location they were and the clothes they were wearing at the time. Several theories express that flashbulb memories are not entirely correct; however, they follow a 25% to 75% ratio.  This tells us that 25% of the entire memory will remain true whilst the other 75% will be completely fabricated by our minds to make up the rest of the image.
I am taking my own memories, and through the lens of nostalgia, I have curated a collection that prevents me from letting my memories slip away, but better yet allows the viewer to truly clutch on to my own remaining 25% with me. By using collage and screen print I captured some of these memories, hoping to catch these memories and save them from being lost. Layering mediums and techniques I have been able to show the complexities of my life and carry them with me in my accessories collection.
DETAIL
The clutch bag is a pattern cut pattern piece created by myself to get the exact size and proportions I wanted. The piece was screen printed with the collage motifs of my childhood, layered on top of one another to create depth. I then proceeded to layer Irish machine stitching to begin the embroidery. I got the motifs for the stitch lines from my samples throughout my project which were pulled from abstracted lines from my initial paper collages. I then proceeded to dye sublimation print my laser cut sequins to bring back the concept of the 25% remaining memories and stitched those on accordingly.
