About Me

Hi, I'm Ellie a Bath spa fashion design graduate

I love using the art of storytelling within design, using a story to inform small details throughout a collection making each garment feel more personal and fascinating from both an up-close view and far away.

I discovered my handprint in fashion whilst studying drape. I love exploring different fabrics, how they all fall differently, and the ways you can cut each of them to achieve different results. I enjoy how fast-paced drape can be using different fabric manipulations to drape interesting and elegant silhouettes that feel new which are supported with quick fluid sketches that further develop my designs in a fun way, celebrating the design process.

INSPIRATION

''Life After You'' follows the story of growth and the ability to embrace change after a tragedy

My collection uses only two colours; Green and Red. this is from looking into the effects colours have on the human body in relation to the emotions their affiliated with and how they relate to my concept. The colour red increases your heart rate, blood pressure, it is also associated with conflicting emotions like love, and anger, danger, and excitement, similar to grief in the complexity of the colour red as grief can also bring on lots of conflicting emotions, sadness, relief, anger, and confusion.

The silhouette of my drapes are intentionally soft with an emphasis on different necklines to create this comforting atmosphere withing the collection. The drapes feel organic and floaty creating elegance within the collection.

DETAIL

The Red Wool

The Red wool is a top that is one of my personal favourites, with one pleated risen shoulder that looks almost like armour in a comforting wool fabric, furthermore the drape falls down to the bodice and connects to the right shoulder which is much softer but with the same pleating detail. The sides of the top are tear dropped with allow the top to have a cropped illusion whilst still being modest and appropriate for my consumer, it is also a very flattering shape that complements the skirt. The rounded raw hem feels organic flowing from the sides giving the silhouette a rounded shape which relates back to the idea of comfort within the shoulders and collection.
