About Me
Hi I'm Elinor, a Fashion Design & Marketing Graduate from Northumbria
Specialising in womenswear and print, my FMP is driven by fusing bold graphics and colour with minimalistic silhouettes to create contemporary garments. With particular interest in music and youth culture through time, I aim to portray emotions of unity and togetherness through collection concepts, while considering durability and longevity of garments.
My fmp outcome utilises workwear silhouettes as a canvas for screen printing, a craft which I have developed a huge passion for in my final year. After conducting a research report on fashion individuality within Gen-Z, I identified a gap in the market for workwear silhouettes for women, along with uniquely printed, stand-out styles. The project aim was to create bold, investment pieces with durability at the forefront of production, without compromising commerciality.
INSPIRATION
My inspiration is driven by juxtaposing contrasting, yet cohesive ideas to create something new.
My FMP brand IDEM explores self-expression and individuality from a Gen-Z perspective. With a boldly creative customer at the forefront of design, IDEM fuses traditional workwear durability with expressive bold prints, creating contemporary versatile pieces while encouraging a slow fashion approach. Community minded, IDEM aims to unite and connect young people, always welcoming unapologetic individuality.
IDEM’s launch collection, ‘No Photos on the dancefloor’ gathers inspiration from the reunification of 90s Berlin and the rise of the techno scene. With silhouette based on traditional workwear styles, my research delved into vintage, military, and historical garments beyond the Berlin Wall, as well as youth subculture rave style. IDEM’s follow-on collection 'Cohesion' is based on personal experiences of youth culture in 1980s Britain, heavily Inspired by my parents’ love of 80s music and nightlife.

DETAIL
I incorporated bold prints on heavy organic cotton drill creating unique garment outcomes.
My final pieces offer a canvas for bold prints in striking colour ways, each inspired by rave flyers and graphics of the era, along with shapes of brutalist architecture. Functionality and Durability were never compromised, with a fabric story including heavy canvases and cotton drills ensuring quality and longevity from the outset of design.
