About Me
A Modern Vision of the Maramures Traditions- Merry Cemetery, Romania
First, I have to tell you a little about me: I am student in my final year at 'University of East London' studying Fashion Textiles. I have been always in love with life, fashion and much, much more!
I was born in Valcea, Romania during communist rule. At this time I could not follow my passion but I then moved to London and my dreams became my reality. Since living in the UK I have managed to follow and fulfil my personal goals & aspirations. The first step of my journey began at Waltham Forest College where I began studying fashion & textiles @ (level 4 and 5). Success there enabled me to enrol @ 'UEL' where I have continued to study fashion & textiles (years 2 and 3). The knowledge and experience I have attained have further enthused me into the world I wish to be.
INSPIRATION
Motto: Life is like the petals falling from a flower, we bloom to soon, but,then we die!
In my collection I have tried to revive in my collection the old traditions from my country of birth, Romania. To be more specific, the 'Merry Cemetery of Sapanta. The only cemetery in the world in which those who pass away are still being celebrated with continual joy and cheerfulness! My inspiration was to insert the patterns from the painted merry tomb-stones( flower petals and falling ones, comic angel, merry texts, geometrical shapes) into my clothing collection which I did with complete success.
The colours within emphasized the passing of time( beige-sand) the mourning( black) and joy (embroidery). The techniques I employed in my collection were created by using cutting edge technology eg: digital and screen printing, machine embroidery, dye techniques alongside hand and machine embroidery. I endeavour to capture your imagination when you view my unique and inspirational collection. I am honoured and proud to be sharing this with you.
