About Me

Hello! I'm Douglas and I'm a BA Fashion Communication graduate.

Douglas specialises in Styling, Photography and Creative Direction and aspires to work within Fashion Publishing upon graduation.

I love to create Fashion Imagery that tells a story. My final major project titled CREUTAIR, meaning creature in Scottish Gaelic, aims to break down the conventional ideas of heteronormativity presented in Scottish history and reimagine significant times and figures within history to explore contemporary themes of queerness.

INSPIRATION

Turning old into new and reimagining stories to make them fit the present has always intrigued me.

I have been fascinated by Scottish history since a young age. As a child, I would visit places such as Edinburgh Castle and be engulfed in the stories of romantic tragedy, rebellion, fights for power and oppression. The initial inspiration for CREUTAIR came from the 2018 film Mary Queen of Scots, which had a diverse cast and in particular, a queer character. This modernisation of period historical period drama inspired me to do the same through Fashion Image.

I decided to take these stories from history and reimagine them to fit my own queer narrative. I have taken inspirations from the likes of Tim Walker and Charles Jeffrey and their way of modernising history and heritage to create beautiful and groundbreaking work within Fashion.

The Young Pretender: BTS

Behind the scenes video of editorial shoot "The Young Pretender", inspired by Bonnie Prince Charlie and period undressing. Styled and shot by Douglas Miller, video by Jemima Bartholomew.

I have a hunger for creating Fashion Imagery that not only tells a story but sparks conversation and inspires positive change for a more progressive future for all.
