About Me

Hi, I'm Doriano a graduate from Istituto Marangoni Milano

He studied the classics , developing an interest in philosophy and a sense of admiration for all the humanistic culture, that started him to be always curious to know. He decided to pursue a career in Fashion Design, believing that design was the right way to mix his necessity to express his creativity and all the influence

I define myself as a professional guy, focused but with a pinch of whimsy. My creative process always starts from a meticulous aesthetic research that embraces multiple fields, including art, musical currents and everyday references. The development of sketches remains fundamental for me to better define shapes, volumes and attitude.

INSPIRATION

My initial Idea starts from the "30s film "Freaks" by Tod Browning .

The film presents itself as a bitter, caustic but also touching allegory on diversity; stating that it is often just behind the "normality" of individuals that the true monstrousness is hidden. The emotions and humanity that emerges from the film prompted me to reinterpret it according to three aspects: Functionality, Genderfluid and an aggressive and brazen attitude.

The connecting point of my research was: “What gives a wrong or wrong effect to a context”; for this reason the collection is full of knitwear with irregular stitches and a malformed effect, garment dyes and irregular polka dot patterns.

DETAIL

Manifesto of the collection is a raincoat inspired by a type of Turkish garment called “kepnek”.

I reworked this garment in two versions: one long and one short. The garment of inspiration is felt, I used polyester rubber and nylon to develop these two more functional, versatile and strictly counter-trend versions. The garment features a clean front with 1 button at the waist, side slits with two snaps and a back with a pleat background that gives character. For the color palette there is a close connection with the German abstractionism of Franz Marc and Ernst Ludwig; in which brushstrokes of greenish tones are in contrast with purplish red tones that immerse the viewer in illusory landscapes.

Here comes Dick, he's wearing a skirt Here comes Jane, you know she's sporting a chain Same hair, revolution Same build, evolution Tomorrow who's gonna fuss And they love each other so
