About Me

My name is Diane Serfati a graduate from Lisaa in Paris.

My concept is inspired by the functional nature of working clothes , themselves designed to last over time and accompany us in our daily activities. I like to make smart, transformable, modular, interchangeable clothes. All the clothes of this collection have the same base and can be completely deconstructed to be modulated and superimposed on each other.

In my work, we find the idea that the shapes and finishing details of a garment are also there to meet specific needs. An outfit contributes to our quality of life, to the comfort of our moving body. The functionality of the garment and the value of its use are in the center of my concept. My collection is part of an ethical and eco-responsible approach by using only second-hand materials (end of rollers and up-cycling). This is a winter collection, But most of the pieces can be worn all year round due to their modular functionality.

INSPIRATION

Inspired by the lifestyle of Italians retirees who settle on islands to enjoy their old âge.

Here, the muse is an Italian senior of around 65. My work is inspired by travelling , and more precisely by retirees who settle on the Italian islands to enjoy their old age, with a kitsch aesthetic inspired by popular seaside tourism of the 80s / 90s. Humor and derision are integral parts of my collection.

I mix two very different aesthetics. On the one hand, minimalist and Japanese cuts, autumnal colors and neutrals inspired by Mediterranean landscapes. On the other hand, I integrate a kitsch aesthetic inspired by advertising of cold drinks, visuals of travel agencies of the 80s, as well as the universe of Martin Parr with very vivid colors.A grandfather's wardrobe, with sport-wear elements such as golf or tennis clothes, but also holiday clothes such as Bermuda shorts, Hawaian shirts, cardigans, raincoat.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

I use vintage patterned bath towels, second hand scarves so the pieces are unique.

My collection is part of an eco-responsible approach, using textiles not intended for the fashion industry and up-cycling part of its clothing. With scarves, knits, vintage towels, we are now offering a new design to these garments for a second life. Despite the kitsch aesthetic of the original patterns, they bring a real visual imprint and a touch of the second degree. inspired by the colors of Italians landscapes, invites you to travel: The dark sand almost ocher of scicile and the black pebbles with gray reflections of the beach of nonza in the Corsican Cape already make us travel. I also bring warmer colors that call to the dry and arid vegetation, to small fishing ports with bright colors, but it is obviously the translucent color of the Mediterranean sea that reflects the most idilic nuances.

The knack is to find your own inspiration and take it a journey to create work that is personal and revealing. Martin Parr
