Chung Lin is a creative designer specialising in knitwear design and knitted textile; with a year of placement experience, she learned and developed her own aesthetic and sustainable beliefs, which have been carried out through her graduate collection.
With a fine art background, coming into the design industry has been a fun and challenging journey; I have a strong influence from nature and landscape, which is my main inspiration for my work. It is my pleasure to use knitting, crocheting or drawing to create the texture and turn them into wearable garments. Sustainability has been a big part of my graduate collection; the whole collection is made out of 100% merino. I believe nature fibre is one of the solutions for fast fashion pollution and climate change.
INSPIRATION
My interest in this area developed while doing a foundation course; my tutor showed a documentary of artist Andy Goldsworthy; this is an entirely new kind of art, which I have never experienced or seen in my home country before. He works with nature, an organic and peaceful process; the pure, minimal movement is a real-life poem. This is incredibly fascinating and immediately drew my attention. Since then, I have been highly interested in 'nature in art & design forms.'
