I have always been passionate about sustainable fashion and concerned about the amount of waste the industry produces, it is important to me as a designer to show that zero-waste fashion doesn’t have to be boxy silhouettes, it can be fitted, glamorous and fun without damaging the planet.
I love being creative in my free time, whether it’s fashion, crafts, upholstery, and drawing, it makes me feel contempt. I try to be as sustainable and eco-friendly as much as possible and like to reuse garments and fabrics that others may throw away, I believe in a circular economy and like to bring that idea into my everyday life. I also love to stay busy, as I often get bored and hate when life feels stagnant.
INSPIRATION
My collection is heavily influenced by my love for sustainability and high fashion, I wanted to create something that was visually appealing and sustainable at the same time. I began my research by looking into popular zero-waste designers such as Yeohlee and Holly McQuillan, I also referenced her book “Zero-waste fashion design” a lot in the early stages of my collection. I knew I wanted to work with fabric manipulation to create these garments and this can be seen in both looks and in my line-up.

DETAIL
The details in this collection have been implemented with intention, from the materials to colour and techniques applied. All the zero waste items have small tie closures, to avoid bringing in another material such as metal or plastic, this emphasises the handmade and slow fashion features of this collection. The digital embroidery brings in the fuchsia pink across outfits and showcases my take on ‘Sashiko’ inspired motifs, tied in with the print on the catsuits. The creased trousers were created by forcing the fabric to wrinkle and then held in place by a fusible interfacing, the lining and bound buttonholes are also in the fuchsia silk to add a pop of colour, this is enhanced by the deep black shades. The bustle for the dress is filled with the waste from catsuits to avoid letting any material go to waste.
