About Me

Hi I'm Celestine, a fashion design graduate from the Uni of Salford

Designing has always been a favorite of mine, and whether that's designing prints, garments, or page layouts, I thoroughly enjoy doing so. I adore working digitally using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Aside from designing, I also love digital illustration and technical drawing. My work revolves around my fantasy of the augmented reality world.

During my studies in Zhejiang Textile and Fashion College in China, I was honored to be the only student in the class to receive the academic excellence award. During my studies in the University of Salford, I was chosen to receive feedback from the director of Iceberg, I was shortlisted for the Alter-Eco upcycling competition and was amongst the 13 shortlisted to present my portfolio to the judges of the Artsthread Pentland Churchill competition.

INSPIRATION

My major inspiration is Iris Van Herpen. I am also inspired by my life experiences and daydreams.

Iris Van Herpen has been my design inspiration for many years. Her work is inspired by nature and fluidity. I love how she combines both architecture and fashion together by collaborating with artists such as Casey Curan. Van Herpen is known for her willingness to experiment—exploring new fabrics created by blending steel with silk or iron filings with resin, incorporating unexpected materials ranging from umbrella tines to magnets, and pushing the boundaries of technologies such as 3-D printing.

I am also inspired by my dreams and daydreams, and my life experiences. Coincidences inspire my design process. I am always curious about what's ahead of us, such as AI and how will it impact our lives in the future. My fantasies and imagination give me ideas and experimentations give me chances to transform my ideas into reality. Success and having a healthy work-life balance motivate me as a creative individual. And having a bigger goal in life is crucial.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

I fantasized about cloning an individual throughout the different stages of life in the Metaverse

Athanasia means immortality. The collection revolves around the human life cycle as represented in the 'live forever' mode in metaverse. The 'live forever' mode is developed by Somnium Space in which they collect data so they could create an avatar that could mimic the way we behaves in real life. We as humans knew that our physical self will perish but our conceptual self is eternal, therefore we want to do such thing so that people could remember us when we die. Each look is a representation of human throughout the different stages of life starting from foetus, infant, child, adult, elderly and eventually death. Having death as the most influential stage as death gives us a purpose in life. The Day of the Dead celebration in Mexico has a major influence to the collection, ranging from the colour story and fabrications as well as the textile technique used throughout the collection.

"It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation."
