About Me

Hey! I'm Cara, a graduate from UCA Epsom

Cara has created a varied portfolio having experimented with different techniques and styles of illustration until finding her own style in early 2020, opening up a small business selling her artwork as prints, and other products. She has a bohemian and spiritual visual identity with a unique illustrative style which is represented throughout her work.

I started using my illustrations to create different garments, bespoke commissions, and more. Growing from strength to strength, I found there was lots of interest and demand for my illustrations more than anything, and soon slowed down on the clothing side of things, and focused on increasing my illustration collections and commissions.

INSPIRATION

I've been drawing since I was young, with inspiration taken from nature and other-worldly aspects.

Nature and beautiful environments are something that has always interested me; starting off when I was young, I always drew and painted landscapes and gardens. After taking Photography, Art, and Graphics A-Levels, my interests moved on to the human form, attending life drawing classes, creating ink drawings and paintings using abstract colours to add a different emotion to the art and figure, as well as photographing and digitally manipulating the human form to show a different perspective with my art.

Moving on, I gained a Fashion Imagery Foundation Diploma and am now a graduate of a BA Hons Fashion Promotion and Imagery course, which taught me numerous different aspects of digital art. I discovered artists such as Hattie Stewart, Keith Haring, Carmen Seijas, Blindthesun, and many more who inspired me to create my own illustrative techniques and work.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

I illustrate in digital and traditional forms, sometimes morphing the two together

Drawing using traditional techniques until recently, I sometimes incorporate painting and drawing within my digital illustration. My most recent example of this would be the 'Sun and Moon Skies' where I painted a bohemian styled canvas and then photographed it, illustrating on top to create one piece and selling it as prints. When illustrating, I use brushes which resemble water colour and gouache to add this traditional feel to my digital work, as well as creating a natural aspect to my work emphasising the spiritually of my drawings.

Illustration is my form of expression. I can translate and portray my emotions and feelings through my artwork.
