Most of my personal photography work surrounds Welsh historical subjugation, Welsh politics, culture, people and the rest of it. I started looking at the difference in attitudes towards nationalism in different countries and have ended up mostly concentrating on Wales. My work outside of uni almost always coincides with themes of community.
I am seriously interested in the social impact aspect of fashion photography, my dissertation and most of my projects angled towards representation, creative education and encouragement and asking the questions as to why places like Merthyr (my home) and other less well connected areas lack the pathways into the creative arts industry.
INSPIRATION
To the creative arts industry, there are clear outliers. In the modern community socio-personal structure, there are always what some call 'local legends', or people infamous for their histories, good or bad. For my final graduate project I developed website to invite my audience to send in stories from their families, towns and areas. I then visualised some of the stories into a small book titled 'Black Sheep'.

DETAIL
Visually, I purposely explored diverse concepts and narratives for each ‘local legend’ story, to have a range of ‘Black sheep’. Starting with my experience and then visualising submitted stories. Embracing humour, satire, and fantasy within the imagery to engage with serious themes in an accessible way.
