About Me

Sportswear Design Graduate From Manchester Fashion Institute

My background in competing and training in various sports over the years has inspired my passion for designing and developing performance sportswear which is beneficial for not only the wearer, but also the environment. I build high functionality and durability into all of my garments to ensure prolonged use and maximum performance.

My degree in BA(Hons) Fashion Design and Technology: Sportswear has enabled me to become competent in all areas of the design and development cycle, from concept and colour research, to pattern cutting and creation of technical specification packs. I have developed my skills in using no-sew and waterproof construction technology to push the performance of my designs. I focus primarily on outerwear and enjoy exploring the complexities of merging functionality with fashion. I believe that now more than ever, garments should be created with versatility and durability as a core consideration.

INSPIRATION

Final Collection - ‘Escape’: Women’s Multi-season Technical Running Apparel

This collection has been inspired by the need for versatility in a post-pandemic world, and the need for a feeling of escapism through sports such as running. The collection encompasses my own ideas of escapism - being in the mountains and at altitude - with the technical aspects required for the runner to perform at their best. The collection has been designed for an urban lifestyle; using imagery of mountains and parachutes to inspire the silhouette and details of the garments.

The ‘Escape’ Collection has been designed as a capsule collection that covers multi-seasons. I have deigned garments appropriate for both S/S and A/W as well as wet and dry weather conditions. This means that a runner’s training programme doesn’t have to be compromised by their surroundings, and brings certainty to running at a time where certainty feels impossible. All outfits have been curated with functionality at the core, but follow a ‘studio to street’ aesthetic to suit my urban consumer.

DETAIL

Functionality has been built into the garments using high performance fabrics and trims

Specialist sportswear fabrics have been used in the range, including waterproof and breathable fabrics as well as stretch and compression fabrics. 3/4 of the waterproof fabrics are OEKO-TEX standard for sustainability, and have been chosen for their highly durable membranes.

The COVID-19 pandemic has lead to consumers embracing their natural surroundings and discovering, or potentially rediscovering, forms of exercise that do not rely on public facilities such as running.
