About Me

Empowering silhouettes through technical and cultural storytelling

I am a womenswear designer specialising in advanced pattern cutting, with a focus on inclusive design, cultural symbolism, and technical innovation. My work fuses couture craftsmanship with conceptual depth, challenging industry norms through bespoke tailoring and silhouette engineering for fuller figures.

My Final Major Project explores how fashion shapes identity through construction, symbolism, and silhouette. Drawing from my research on fashion’s psychological impact, I reverse-engineered luxury garments from imagery, tailoring each to my own curvier frame. This process demanded precision, intuition, and cultural insight — reflecting my British Caribbean heritage and commitment to inclusive, high-standard design. I aim to lead with purpose, pride, and technical excellence.

INSPIRATION

Exploring identity, empowerment, and craftsmanship through silhouette and symbolism

My project is inspired by the transformative power of fashion to shape identity and self-perception. Drawing from my research on the psychological impact of clothing, I explored how iconic silhouettes reflect women’s evolving roles in society. This led me to reinterpret luxury garments through a lens of empowerment, using pattern cutting as a tool for storytelling, inclusion, and technical innovation.

As a British Caribbean designer, I’m driven by a desire to honour cultural heritage while challenging industry norms. I reverse-engineered garments from imagery, tailoring them to my own fuller figure to explore inclusive design and bespoke craftsmanship. Each piece is a dialogue between history, body, and identity — a celebration of women’s strength, creativity, and presence in luxury fashion.

DETAIL

Precision, symbolism, and silhouette: redefining luxury through inclusive pattern cutting

My Final Major Project showcases a fusion of advanced pattern cutting, cultural symbolism, and inclusive design. I reverse-engineered luxury garments from photographic references, tailoring each piece to my own fuller figure to challenge industry norms around standard sizing. The collection includes a couture gown, hybrid trench coat, tailored trousers, and sculptural accessories — each selected for its technical complexity and narrative power. Working without access to physical garments, I relied on visual analysis, flat pattern drafting, and draping to reconstruct silhouettes with precision. This process demanded a deep understanding of construction, proportion, and movement. My identity as a British Caribbean woman shaped the project’s ethos — honouring craftsmanship, resilience, and representation. Through this work, I aim to redefine luxury fashion as inclusive, intentional, and technically excellent.
