Amy Sorrell is a performance artist, working with self portraiture, sculptures and installations, she uses a wide range of mediums to construct an intimate relationship through self-expression of the body she lives in.
In my art I explore my experience as a disabled female with an invisible illness, I do this by demonstrating fragility and instability, in order to create a raw and convincing aesthetic. After studying Fashion Photography at Falmouth University for the past 3 years, I have noticed my drive coming from an auto-biographic direction in performances.
INSPIRATION
Throughout my time at University I have extended my research to the maximum, becoming so involved in what has happened and what is happening in the world of Female performance artists. Performance Art has been a huge step for women in art, from Carolee Schneemann to Tracey Emin, both creating performances and installations with no boundaries, and both in very different time periods.
