About Me

I'm Amelia - Fashion Media & Marketing student from Plymouth

I love to create fashion content mainly utilising the medium of film as well as incorporating analogue film photography.

Growing up in Plymouth and living in the Southwest I’ve always had a connection with the ocean, and the beauty of nature which is where my fashion style and media creation often takes me. I love capturing natural moments in time which is why I love analogue media as it creates imagery that is unedited and authentic to the moment. Utilising mainly Pentax K1000 35mm camera; Sony Handycam and Braun Nizo Super 8mm camera I began to find my own media style.

INSPIRATION

Nostalgic Media and Fashion

Exploring nostalgic technology was a main theme for my final year portfolio work, taking the opportunity to experiment with various technologies in film to find my own individual aesthetic in film, as well as content creation for social media, through capturing everyday life and moments. In addition, music majorly influences my creative process and work approach often taking inspiration from 80s new wave music; to 70s psychedelic rock to 90s soft rock.

I found a love specifically for Super 8mm film with all aspects of the process from the filming; the development to seeing the outcome of the film for the first time. This is where I started to form my style and love for travelogue content as I loved to capture the world around me. Therefore, this allowed me to combine my love for the environment that surrounds me in the Southwest with fashion content.

DETAIL

Live Brief with Size?

For my final major project, I worked with Size? to create a media campaign, centred around a fashion film, inspired by their upcoming collection ‘Homegrown’. I wanted to make this individualistic and different to Size?’s usual content, as I wanted to showcase streetwear from my personal perspective. I shot this film on Kodak Vision 3 Colour Negative Film 200T with a Braun Nizo Super 8mm Camera. The film outcome I produced centred around documenting aspects of the Southwest and the lifestyle that means a lot to my friends and I personally. It showcased a beachy and chilled streetwear flair rather than more staged fashion content. I feel this natural approach and narrative to my film aligns with the ‘Homegrown’ inspired and community aspect of Size?. The focus on nostalgic media and approach to my work as well added a feeling of a travelogue style which I feel is more authentic and relatable, which will engage the Size? community in a new way as it varied from Size?’s current content.
