About Me
Hi! I'm Amelia, a fashion photographer from Leeds Arts University.
Amelia Finn is a non-binary photographer and visual artist based in the UK who has graduated from Leeds Arts University in 2022. They focus on art direction, research and experimentalism within the fashion and art industry. They often deep dive into high fashion archives, gothic themes and the darker side of topics that aren't expressed enough.
When I first joined university, I set myself the task of finding my own personal style by the time that I left. Something signature to me. However, once I started to learn about the new people & new equipment that I was surrounded with, I found myself wanting to experience and capture it all. The need to stick to one topic or aesthetic wasn't pleasing to me any more. My thoughts were that if I only have 3 years with all of this equipment, and budding artists at my finger tips why wouldn't I try and make as much work as possible? If not now, then when? When would I get this opportunity again?
INSPIRATION
I want for others to be intrigued enough to create their own story about my work.
I take inspiration from many places and that's why I find all of my work to have a cohesive trait of experimentalism, but all have different aesthetics. This idea has helped me broaden my horizons within the photography world, especially with my projects at university! I have been able to go one from topic to another, and then be able to blend references that I haven't seen before to make unique work.
Since I strive to have others create their own stories within my work, being able to mix visual cues I find daily, such as oil on a street, crumbling paint, or the draping of fabric, has helped me make these small idea boards in my head. These then lead to me finding contextual research which fuels me to make narratives and character building. I make my own story too.

For this final project, I wanted to portray the feelings and emotions I have surrounding Wales. I have always found that when speaking about, or going to wales, the general consensus is that people expect it to be boring, grey and cold. However, I never had this negative reaction to going there, I was always excited and pictured it in my minds eye full of colour. Due to my experiences and emotions being completely different to most people, I want to express this through a series of photoshoots showing my emotions outwardly in ‘mundane’ scenarios.
