About Me

Hi I'm Alana! A Fashion Journalism Graduate from UCA Epsom

University for the Creative Arts Fashion Journalism Graduate. Editor-in-Chief, Founder & Creator of Kerosene Magazine. Writer, Interviewer & Creative.

As someone with opinions and a love for writing, there was never another career that called to me as much as journalism. All of the sports days, bunsen burners and equations could never compare to the feeling of methodically arranging my colourful thoughts into words. I have always loved the creative sector and hold myself responsible for navigating my ambitious mindset into everything I do. This is something I wanted to show in my FMP, Kerosene Magazine, and celebrate the bold & brassy businesswomen. I am a high achiever, a lover of detail and my fundamental philosophy is 'try harder.

INSPIRATION

LOOSE AND LIBERATED BUSINESS

Kerosene provides a voice for young entrepreneurial women, an outlet for unrecognised women in the stereotypical professional world. Kerosene is not only a publication but an empowering and outspoken platform celebrating diverse entrepreneurship culture. It is a space for individuals to express and claim their power in business. Inspired by the generation that carries such weight for a positive female future.

For my FMP I wanted to show that business can come in all shapes and sizes. I have always admired the passion of women and the strength it takes to have a place in a boardroom surrounded by suits, ties, misogyny and gender inequality. With Kerosene, I wanted to honour the incredible and rare journeys of women who can break through that improbable glass ceiling. It is dedicated to all of my fellow try-hards and the women who are unapologetically themselves.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

GROWTH AND COMFORT DO NOT COEXIST

Kerosene was the driving force for newfound confidence. With the completion of my degree, I realise that my attributes and positive outcomes come purely from loving what you do. My aspirations for the future correlate comfortably to Kerosene. I value the uplifting of women, building lasting connections and breaking the glass ceiling. Throughout my FMP I valued enhancing my design and interviewing skills, and I plan to further my ambitions of creating countless issues. I would love to broaden my Journalism, Editing, Design and Interviewing career path within magazines. In particular, interviewing and reporting on women's rights is an intriguing aspect of my career that I would like to explore.

"I WANTED TO HONOUR THE INCREDIBLE AND RARE JOURNEYS OF WOMEN WHO CAN BREAK THROUGH THAT IMPROBABLE GLASS CEILING. KEROSENE IS DEDICATED TO ALL OF THE WOMEN WHO ARE UNAPOLOGETICALLY THEMSELVES."
