TU Scholarship Awards

Womenswear

We are looking for one creative and inspiring student to join us for a year scholarship to work well as part of a commercial design team. The successful candidate should be able to apply and adapt their fashion skills to a Womenswear Assistant Designer Position at Tu Clothing for Sainsbury’s.

We are looking for originality, creativity and individuality. Commercial acumen is key and the ability to work independently and follow own initiative. In addition, working as part of a design team is essential, whilst demonstrating a flexible and willing approach.

Selection of the nominated students will be asked to attend an Assessment Centre day on 4th & 5th May. On this day, students will get the opportunity to meet key members of the design team and a tour of the building, before being interviewed based on their Portfolios/Collections presentations and also personalities and key interests.

The winning student should show evidence of Womenswear specific product design, have strong trend & theme awareness, colour direction, print/graphics knowledge and fabric intent. This should be illustrated in their portfolio work and garment form if applicable as part of their coursework. Evidence of good Adobe Photoshop software packages and CAD specifications is also essential.
