About Me
Hi, I’m Gigi, a fashion design graduate from the Uni of Staffordshire
Gigi is passionate and brave enough to step out of her comfort zone to be a fashion designer in order to pursue her dreams, being an international student working in the UK has deepened the awareness and understanding of fashion.
Due to the rise of the internet, people are more aware of international fashion. This collection aims to celebrate Hong Kongs contemporary architecture through directional silhouettes and intricate design detailing.
INSPIRATION
Hong Kong and the diverse range of architecture and the lighting of the city from day to night.
Hong Kong is a cosmopolitan city filled with a diverse range of people, the shapes from historic and contemporary buildings have also inspired the collection.
From photographing Hong Kong's iconic architecture and studying the shapes and forms through to visiting the local museums informed the direction of the collection making this a celebratory statement of this ever-inspiring city.

Architectural forms and details reflecting the modernity of Hong Kong
After reviewing primary and secondary research, I inspired draping shapes on the mannequin, weaving and smocking to inform my design development. Moreover, the colours of using iridescent for the collection are also inspired by the reflection of the night view in Victoria harbour and neon signs. Therefore, rainbow organza, pastel laser reflective tape strips and flounced ruffled transparent fabric are used within this collection to echo the dynamism of Hong Kong from different times of the day.
