Paula was inspired by a process of breaking limitations through self-conscious irreverence as a catalyst for abrupt and extreme sensations. This was accomplished by means of intense experiences transformed into a flexible and introspective attitude, thus demonstrating the resistance and expansion of satisfying the need of feeling alive.
My passion for fashion has evolved to the point that today I see it as a space for reflection where I have the capability of getting out of my comfort zone. Also, creating connections with others and having fun in my own way are important points that are part of my Original Profile, allowing me to contribute positively from art and fashion to a space where life stories can be heard and transformed.
INSPIRATION
Throughout my career I found repetitive methodologies that have been combined to understand what my Original Profile is; death, adrenaline, breaking limits, war, scraps and social work are now an important part of my creative process and my identity as a designer. Thus, leading me to look for a way to unite my knowledge about fashion with objectives of social transformation. Like this, I can get to achieve a positive impact on the society of the young rebels that we will always be.
For me, more than a simple compilation of projects, this is an evidence of the process that allows me to understand the complexity in the concepts that break schemes. Thus, summarizing the stigmas of an imposing society on the youth that seeks, through their rebellious attitude, a sense of life full of unlimited fun where they can express their maximum potential. Like this, they can enjoy each victory and show their own selves that a social fabric can be transformed by challenging one's own limits.
DETAIL
The garments were constructed through the exploration with different materials and silhouettes that were firmly united with the concepts that break schemes. Hence, a streetwear style was created where the dark and the ornate colors are the contrast that allowed the construction process to flow, thus experimenting with different artistic techniques applied to the deconstruction of conventional moldings. From creating a texture with unconventional materials (such as rubber from pressure cookers), through the intervention of textiles with techniques (such as painting and graffiti that have gone digital by creating patterns), to the reuse of fabric scraps, which were transformed into the manifesto of exploration and identity that would lead the garments to tell the intention of a rebellious, colorful and resilient design. In this vein, what I want is streetwear to be reflected in my garments from the resignification of creative processes in fashion and the impact it has on our rebellious youth.
