About Me

Hi! I am Niko, a Fashion Design student from the Uni of Southampton.

Hello! Welcome to my fashion world! My name is Niko, and I am a student of fashion design. As a student who has studied this major for five years, I still have a great love for fashion! At present, my goal is to promote sustainable development in the garment industry more widely and make a contribution to the environmental protection of the earth.

At the same time, I will think about how to make people naturally associate environmental protection with fashion in more different ways. This is going to be an ongoing project forever. I always uphold the fashion design style is simple and generous, and practical wear is high, I want to make customers wardrobe will never be out of date and can wear for many years, this is my own fashion habit, I also hope that I can inherit and develop this concept in my future fashion career!

INSPIRATION

The Connection between Stillness and Movement.

My inspiration comes from the connection between the dynamic and the static and the relationship between each other. All things in the world have many forms of existence, but they fall into two main categories: dynamic and static. So in this work, I will discuss this topic with the element of water as a representative.

The work of David Hockney: The splash is my main inspiration because the moment of the splash is a good representation of the relationship that goes from a moment of near-stillness to a moment of extreme dynamics, which is fascinating to me. I was also inspired by a beach in Iran. It was a red sea, which was not blue in the traditional sense, but red. It also perfectly explained the idea that fashion is unique.

DETAIL

Trying the construction of this chest part

I wanted to achieve the "movement" in the theme through three-dimensional tailoring, so I learned the tailoring method of Nakamichi Tomoko, a Japanese fashion designer. By stitching two pieces together, I realized the three-dimensional structure of standing up. I applied the same technique to the sharp corners of the lower half of another coat, using the differences between the cut pieces to create a three-dimensional effect on the flat garment.

Everything in the world has both dynamic and static forms, both in physically and mentally.
