As a womenswear designer I am looking forward to seeing what opportunities the future holds. I am proactively looking for jobs in high end/ high street or design studios mainly in the UK although I am open to international opportunities. I like to create garments that empower the wearer and express their identity, my collections are feminine and contemporary.
I want to dilute boundaries led by trends and society and encourage individuality and self-confidence. I have always been interested in the way trends can influence how a group of people portray themselves and how looking at a person’s aesthetic can explain a lot about someone without them even saying a word.
INSPIRATION
Many people are now using filters and editing apps to distort reality and fit ever changing beauty standards. Pressures from social media and ideas about ‘perfection’ are increasingly encouraging young and old to resort to using these apps and filters. There are both positive and negative reasons why someone would do this although it could also reflect insecurities that they have within themselves.
A common perception of ideal beauty is the idea of looking youthful, growing old and embracing the ageing process isn’t seen in a positive light nowadays natural ageing such as wrinkles are simply blurred away along with our ‘real identity’.
DETAIL
It allows you to draw attention to any areas of desire it also reflects upon the idea of femininity without sexualising the body with the help of fabric manipulation and the styling of garments.
