About Me

Footwear Design Graduate

A BA(Hons) Footwear design student due to graduate in July 2021 and is also the winner of the Pattenmakers Scarr-Hall Memorial Award 2020.

As well as this big award win, Chloe was selected to collaborate her Hi-Tec live project and present the result to Vibram at Lineapelle. Chloe has also been chosen by her tutors to compete the summer footwear course at Instituto Modartech in Italy which she completed the summer or 2020.

INSPIRATION

Barbara Hepworth

Chloe's final major project was inspired by the sculptures and work of Barbara Hepworth, and has explored her inspirations to incorporate into her final collection. The organic shapes and materials in Hepworth's work make up the inspiration of the upper and components, with the sculptural elements pushing the structural makeup of the designs.

DETAIL

Why Footwear Design?

I first heard about footwear design when I was about 10 years old, but didn't think too much about it at the time. Throughout school and college, I've always tried to maintain a wider variety of subjects to keep my options open, but I always kept coming back to wanting to study footwear design. While studying on the Art and Design Foundation at De Montfort University was my first chance to fully explore what footwear design meant to me, and helped me explore and push my creativity by using workshops and equipment I've never heard of before. These experiences made me aware that I could push the limit of what footwear could be and what I could create.
