About Me

Hi, I'm Bethan Jenkins otherwise known as B.JNKS

Bethan progressively searches for innovate ways to create and explore new concepts - whether that be inspired by sustainability, forecasted trends, diversity and engaging practices.

My aim is to explore the endless possibilities to be had and finding new ways to further push myself not only as a creative now entering the industry, but as an individual.

INSPIRATION

Future Thinking - With References to Editorial & Subculture Influences

I aspire to set myself apart from other creatives with my own style and technique by actively seeking visions not yet expressed, this has inspired me to look for innovating ways of creating to receive more than just images. For example, my proposal of 'The editorial influence of the chav subculture' as many romanticise these major fashion capitals, but never the neglected areas that represent so much more of the community to be had.

With references to chav subculture and Bruce Gilden's overexposed portraits, showcasing flaws in a reflective aspect to focus of these characters as we may come across or imagine ourselves. The aim was to rework the city enabling us to romanticise the lower qualities we neglect in the everyday city we see, but don't care to acknowledge.

DETAIL

Collaborating With Other Creatives

I thrive whilst collaborating with a team of creatives who have the same drive, by making those connections and appreciating what we created together. From collaborating, it has actively encouraged me to challenge my skillset as a designer as I learn from others around me in a creative space. There are endless opportunities to learning and educating yourself further, and I intend to do so with the time I spend creating as an individual now entering the industry.

‘For the essence of this art is that it must be an adventure into the unknown, and perhaps it may be found that this, at last, is the matter of all arts’ - Arthur Machen
