Specialising in communications for activist causes, I use journalism, marketing and photography to promote positive change shown in my volunteering work and small business Gender Free Diet. GFD is dedicated to bringing the trans and non-binary community together with our allies through personal stories, education, art and news.
I am an award winning equalities officer at our students union, receiving the Inclusion in Education Award 2021 at our Rep Awards and a shortlisted nominee for the Extra Mile Award at the National Student and Volunteering Awards 2021. I am also the current president of the award winning Northumbria LGBT* Society and have been on the committee for three years total. As a disabled, trans non-binary person who is also a young carer from a disadvantaged background, I am determined to support disenfranchised communities so everyone can start at the same point and realise their goals.
INSPIRATION
People are what drive me to work harder and do more. All of my work revolved around changing stereotypes and assumptions around marginalised communities; from researching queer cinema in the 60's at the start of university, to creating a zine around gig culture and starting my own business to support the trans and non-binary community in my final year, the common thread is always positive change and community.
I am also heavily inspired by our Earth; visually, emotionally and practically. If I'm not working, you are most likely to find me looking after my plants or in a wiki rabbit hole looking at different species of flora and fauna.
