About Me

HI I AM ANEESAH A GRADUATE FROM UCLAN PRESTON

I am mostly inspired by cultural arts from around the world. My work mostly consists of both traditional and contemporary printing techniques as well as using digital software to produce repeated patterns professionally. For the honour’s degree, I have explored tribal patterns and prints produced by the Zulu south African tribe.

I have conducted in-depth research at how they would use certain shapes and colours to represent their personal identities, almost like wearing a visual passport. I have established that all the colours on my colour palette means something and it not only says who you are, but also representing emotions.

INSPIRATION

My first ideas and inspirations came from....

I am a surface pattern designer and maker and I specialise in geometric shapes of all kinds. I am mostly inspired by cultural arts from around the world. My work mostly consists of both traditional and contemporary printing techniques as well as using digital software to produce repeated patterns professionally. My work is made to be diverse so that it can be used for both interior and fashion and for all age groups.

I have also looked at the summer/spring 2021 fashion collections from many clothing stores from big brands to high street. I have discovered that patchwork seems to be a popular theme, both hand stitched and digital and therefore I decided to go with digital patchwork using all my motif designs developed using photoshop and collaged together to create various collages that I then put into repeat.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

I used my perspective of those who are close to me and created work anonymously....

For this project I have produced a wide range of repeat patterns professionally using photoshop for surface pattern designing in fashion. I have produced all my motifs and samples anonymously so that it is not directed at anyone specific but using my own perspective of people I know and are close to me. I have looked at animal prints such as leopard and tiger prints as animal prints are often worn on by kings, queens and often at weddings by the bride and groom. Wearing animal prints often symbolises power, authority and wealth. I intend to research further into what textiles technique are also used traditionally around south Africa and other tribes. I have used animal prints consistently in my patterns to soften the patterns and to create dynamics between solid shapes and animal prints. I have also looked at the summer/spring 2021 fashion collections from many clothing storing from big brands to high street. I have discovered that patchwork seems to be a popular theme, both hand stitched and digital an
