INSPIRATION

HYPER-REAL ‘PERFECT’ BODY- DO NOT EXIST! Body idealisation in media is sharing a negative message

In a world full of constantly changing trends and body shaming oppression from society, that had deconstructed US Women as NOT attractive, neither alluring. It’s time to redefine the definition of women's bodies. Targeting the issue, breaking it apart, and coming up with a solution. I want to be part of making this world a better place, where perimeters of beauty do not exist and all women feel desirable, sophisticated, and comfortable despite their size, ethnicity, or skin colour.

Since my early teenage years, I’ve had always been mindful about my body, not only because I was impressed by how perfect women in media looked; impossibly slim, no stretch marks, and no fat bodies. But being constantly judged against those bodies to conform to being one, unless I wanted to be obese and ugly. Visiting high street stores only held standard size clothing, making me feel rejected and misjudged. Segregated into a category, because I was outstanding the unrealistic shift of skinny bodies.

DETAIL

Reconstructed Empowerment - timeless clothing range designed for Autumn/Winter 2024

Reconstructed empowerment is a project full of passion. It comes from many years of struggle where women bodies had been prejudiced by society as not attractive and not worth anything. The biggest strength behind this project is the motivation to change perspective in fashion industry. This issue had been a problem for many years now and I am driven to change it. It is not about creating voluminous outcomes; it is not about haute couture but it’s about understanding the issue. Building understanding of body and what they require, breaking standard practices in manufacturing and coming up with a solution. This project is based on refining the definition of women empowerment in plus-size industry, strong powerful suits that fit curvier body shapes and build up confidence. It would be preposterous to lecture about this issue and not touch up on the issues of Global warming and environment. Therefore, this whole collection is made using recycled cotton and pre-consumer recycled polyester and acrylic.

'Beauty is the enemy. We try to conquer not feeling beautiful all our lives. It's a battle that can't be won. There is no definition of beauty...' -Miley Cyrus
