About Me

Fashion Textile student specialising in stitch at De Montfort Uni

My specialisms are focused around fabric manipulation techniques and stitch methods such as embroidery, embellishment, digital embroidery, laser cutting and digital printing for fashion.

As a emerging designer, my aim is to create bold and eye-catching designs using my stitch specialism for couture and high end fashion.

INSPIRATION

Oshakawa - Space Age Fashion combined with Japanese Art and Kawaii elements.

For my Final Major Project I initially looked into Japanese art such as Hokusai gradients, Kawaii colour palettes as well as traditional Japanese patterns as inspiration for my project. My aim was to add another element to my project so I did further research into Space Age Fashion and 1960s Futurism in hopes to mix the two ideas together. Additionally, I looked into the idea of gravity in outer space, and therefore incorporated different types of ‘movement’ using embellishment within my final collection.

DETAIL

Textile / Fabric manipulation using various stitch methods.

Currently specialising in mixed media and stitch for my aimed market of couture and high end fashion. I enjoy manipulating more unconventional materials (in terms of stitch) using a variety of embellishment methods. Taking inspiration from my South Asian heritage, I would describe my design aesthetic to be very bold and definitely not shy of colour.

Stand out, don't blend in.
