Liverpool John Moores University – BA (Hons) Fashion
Liverpool John Moores University’s [Liverpool] School of Art and Design has a long and inimitable heritage dating back to 1825.
The School is organised around strong disciplinary cultures that exist in a dynamic environment that supports interaction and debate between staff and students within and across subject areas.
We offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes including our BA (Hons) Fashion degree which allows you to specialise in either fashion design or fashion communication, both of which are underpinned by original research into historical context and contemporary practice. LJMU’s fashion tutors encourage an experimental and individual approach to fashion design while teaching you the traditional skills of drawing and illustration, garment construction and photography. In line with our ethos of pushing the boundaries, you will learn new ways to showcase your collections, for example through digital media, so by the end of your studies you will have built up a portfolio to be proud of. Fashion communication focuses on visual and creative skills ranging from advertising and media, fashion analysis and trend prediction, events and public relations, as well as styling and photography. Many of the design and communication students collaborate to showcase strong design and visual creative skills.
We now offer an exciting MA Fashion Innovation and Realisation postgraduate degree, which is available in full-time or part-time modes and has been designed in collaboration with industry. The MA develops innovative fashion practice through guidance with businesses and entrepreneurs involved with the industry, which is suitable for graduates and professionals in fashion or fashion-related fields.
The School is based in the RIBA award-winning John Lennon Art and Design Building, a breath-taking purpose-built facility in the heart of Liverpool city centre’s Creative Quarter.
