Job Description : An ambitious Junior Garment Technologist looking to develop their career is sought by this hugely successful young gymwear brand. They are ideally looking for candidates with a genuine passion for fitness / sports, along with knowledge of jersey / stretch / compression fabrics and garment construction of performance apparel.

This role would suit a graduate with a year's relevant placement experience working within a sportswear brand.

Reporting to the Product Development Manager the role will involve:-
- Supporting the Garment Technologist in her day-to-day duties
- Daily liaison with factories and suppliers in the UK and overseas
- Working with colleagues ensuring tech packs and size specs are correct, and amended as necessary throughout the development process
- Ensuring samples throughout the process measure to spec and communicating any issues to all concerned
- Checking fabric test reports from factories meet standards, and working with testing houses on garment testing
- Taking part in the fitting process, suggesting improvements, gathering accurate information and advising amendments required to factories
- Prioritising work according to critical path, keeping critical paths up to date and communicating changes to colleagues in merchandising and product teams
- Ensuring all admin organised and up to date, and organising sample library
- Managing in-house testing
- Assisting the quality team in warehouse with quality control issues

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in innovation in fitness and performancewear and enjoy keeping up to date on new developments in active apparel, and will have:-
- A relevant degree-level qualification and at a year’s experience in industry
- Knowledge of garment construction and production methods, particularly on knitted fabrics
- Strong understanding of fabric technology, construction, testing and quality standards
- Knowledge and understanding of design and technical specifications
- Understanding of pattern making, grading, size specs and how to measure garments
- Willingness to assist where required to accomplish the team goals and enjoy being part of a team
- The drive and self-motivation to work on independent projects
- Strong attention to detail
- Great organisational skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Fully computer literate, particularly in Excel and Outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Confidence to communicate with all levels
- The ability to drive is necessary in order to visit the warehouse when required
